Selling on USED Creative
Used Creative is a marketplace for pre-loved pieces from the creative industries — props, sets, installations, furniture, and objects from film, TV, fashion, events, and retail. If you've worked on a production or project and have assets sitting in storage, this is where they find their next life.
Getting started
Sign up here and complete your seller profile before you list your first item. You'll need:
- A logo and banner image
- A short bio describing who you are and the kind of work you do
- Your bank account details to receive payments — we use Stripe
- A new password if we set your account up for you
Your profile is the first thing buyers see when they click on one of your listings. A complete, well-presented profile builds trust and increases the chance of a sale.
Listing an item
Good listings sell. Here's what makes the difference:
- Photos Lead with a strong hero image — well lit, clear background, full item visible. Then include close-ups of textures, key features, and any signs of wear or damage. Add something that shows scale, whether that's a person, a familiar object, or a room. If you have sketches, scamps, or technical drawings that show dimensions, include those too.
- Description Use the description to tell the story of the piece — what it was made for, what production or project it came from, and what makes it worth having. Provenance adds value. Then cover the practical details: materials, condition, and how it's been used.
- Specs Fill in all the required fields — dimensions, weight, material, condition. Buyers need this information to make a decision and to arrange delivery. Incomplete listings get fewer enquiries.
- Pricing Price competitively. A good guide is 50 to 70% below the original production cost. Items priced within this range sell faster and are more likely to be promoted across our channels.
- Terms and conditions Each listing has its own terms and conditions, which buyers must agree to before purchasing. Use this to specify recommended use, whether the item is display-only, branding removal requirements, and indoor or outdoor suitability. Be specific — this protects both you and the buyer.
Projects in the pipeline?
No photos yet? No problem. List the item in our Coming Soon collection using visuals, scamps, or design references, and include the date photos will be available. This lets you generate interest before the item is ready to sell.
Commission and payments
We earn only when you make a sale — no upfront fees.
| Membership | Commission rate |
|---|---|
| Pioneers | 15% |
| Standard sellers | 20% |
VAT is added on top. When a sale is made, our commission is automatically deducted and the remaining amount is transferred to your account via Stripe.
Delivery and collection
Once a buyer has placed an order, they will contact you to coordinate collection — agreeing a date, time, and any site access details before booking their courier. You don't organise the delivery, but you do need to be available and responsive to make it happen smoothly.
Make sure your pickup location is set up in your seller profile so buyers can see where the item is located. For store pickup, you'll confirm the slot directly with the buyer after their order is confirmed.
Our recommended delivery partners, which buyers are directed to for quotes:
- Royal Mail / Parcel Force — for smaller items up to 50 × 50 × 50cm
- AnyVan — for furniture, large props, and installations
- Zippd — for deliveries of all sizes
If your item isn't selling
- Consider reducing the price — even a small reduction can move a listing that's been sitting for a while
- Share it through your own channels and tag us so we can help amplify it
- If you post on social, tag @usedcreative and we'll spread the word
- Still no takers? Move it to our Donations area (launching soon) — buyers pay a small admin fee and cover transport costs
Best practices for circular design
If you're working on a new production or project, it's worth thinking about reuse from the start:
- Start the repurposing conversation at the planning stage, before items are built
- Identify early what could be repurposed and what could be recycled
- If applying branding, make it easy to remove — sustainable vinyls and stickers work well
- Consider flat-pack or modular construction to make dismantling, transport, and reassembly straightforward
Making listing easier — coming soon
We're building a custom AI listing tool designed specifically for the creative industries. It will generate titles, descriptions, and keywords from a photo, suggest pricing, and estimate the carbon saving from reuse — cutting the time it takes to list an item from minutes to seconds.
